Police arrest five for wearing ‘Tinubu Must Go’ T-shirts

The Police has arrested and arraigned five men for allegedly wearing T-shirts bearing “Tinubu Must Go” inscription in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. A First Information Report (FIR) issued by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and verified through court officials, named the defendants as Baba Aji Gremami, 44; Mustapha Abba Yemen, 28; Abbacha Mohammed Ali, 32; Adam Umar Gubio, 21; and Abdulhamid Mohammed, 21. The document, dated September 29, 2026, stated that the incident occurred on September 25, 2026, at about 11:00 a.m around the West End Roundabout community in Maiduguri. Some hungry Nigerians were seen chasing an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign bus in Abuja as bread and packs of rice were distributed to residents ahead of the 2027 elections. In a viral video cited by Ayemafuge, several people were seen running after a moving van, struggling to collect the food items being thrown or handed out from the vehicle. Appeal Court sets aside judgment nullifying INEC guidelines on 2027 elections

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has validated the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) on the conduct of the 2027 general election. In a unanimous judgment on Thursday, the court set aside the judgment of May 20 of the Federal High Court in suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/517/2026, which nullified parts of the INEC’s electoral guidelines. In the lead judgment delivered by Justice Adebukola Banjoko, the Court of Appeal held that the Youth Party YP which instituted the case against INEC lacked legal power, (locus standi) to do what it did. 2027 Election: INEC extends deadline for submission of candidates’ list by political parties

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the submission of lists of candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly Elections, by political parties. The INEC decision is contained in a statement issued on Sunday by its National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna. According to INEC, the deadline for submission in the Revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Elections being Saturday, July 11, 2026 has been extended to midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
