Osun election: Police mop up 34 illegal weapons

Ahead of the Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, the Nigeria Police Force says it has mopped up 34 illegal firearms. CSP Aniete Iniedu, the Force Public Relations Officer, made the disclosure during a town hall meeting held at the Osun State police command headquarters in Osogbo on Thursday. Osun Election: Police arrest Osun Commissioner over gunshots at APC rally in Ilesa

The Police Command in Osun State has arrested the state Commissioner for Environment, Mr Mayowa Asejoorin, over alleged gunshots at the All Progressives Congress(APC) campaign rally in Ilesa on Saturday. Four persons were reportedly injured in the incident. Ayemafuge gathered that the APC supporters, during the rally in Ilesa metropolis, were allegedly attacked leading to injuring a 14-year-old Ilesanmi while some people sustained different degrees of injury. The injured victims have been taken to the hospital for treatment. Killings: Gov Adeleke seeks visa ban on Osun opposition leaders

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has called for economic sanctions and visa bans against opposition leaders in the state, for allegedly aiding political violence in the state ahead of the August 15 governorship election. The governor made the call on Monday while receiving a delegation of the British Government on a pre-election peace-building mission to Osun State. Adeleke alleged that the named politicians were encouraging violence through their supporters, leading to killings and gun attacks across the state.
