President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Tuesday in Abuja, assured that the ongoing restructuring of security operations and institutions will deliver victory over terrorism, banditry and kidnappings across the country. Receiving the leadership of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) led by its President, Most Rev. 98 Nigerians killed in S’Africa within four years – Federal Government

The Federal Government has spoken in loud and unambiguous terms to South Africa. It told South Africa’s International Relations and Cooperation Minister, Ronald Lamola, in Abuja yesterday that 98 Nigerians have been killed in the past four years and therefore must stop. Lamola was dispatched by President Cyril Ramaphosa as a special envoy to Abuja for fence-mending following the recurring attacks by South Africans on foreign nationals, including Nigerians. Gunmen abduct Kebbi high court Judge

A Kebbi State High Court Judge, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, has been abducted by gunmen suspected to be bandits. The high court judge, it was gathered was abducted in the early hours of Sunday at his home along Zogirma Road in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi. Sources said the attack occurred at about 12:00am on Saturday night shortly after the judge returned from a trip to Sokoto. “He had just returned from Sokoto when the gunmen stormed his residence and took him away,” a source said. He added that, though nobody in the house was hurt while the attackers were shooting sporadically before moving him away. “Immediately the incident occurred, we reported to the appropriate authorities, including the leadership of the High Court,” he said. FG to spend N962.83bn on SUVs and empowerment amid rising debt burden

The Federal Government is to spend N962.83 billion on procurement of Sport Utility Vehicles and empowerment projects as contained in the 2026 Appropriation Act, according to a review of the budget by civic technology organisation, Tracka. The amount exceeded the combined allocations to seven federal ministries of Industry, Trade and Investment; Housing and Urban Development; Women Affairs; Justice; Livestock Development; Aviation and Aerospace Development; and Petroleum Resources in the 2026 budget. Tracka said in its analysis of the 2026 Federal Government budget, the allocation comprised N15.13 billion for the procurement of 39 SUVs and N947.70 billion for 2,579 empowerment projects, bringing the total to N962.83 billion. Gunmen kidnap LG chairman – Kill four security operatives

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Nura Umar Abdullahi. The armed men also killed two policemen and two local vigilantes who attempted to foil the attack. The gunmen invaded the chairman’s residence in the early hours of Saturday and took him, his mother, wife and two children away after overpowering his security personnel. Bauchi woman allegedly pours boiling water on pregnant co-wife – Police

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman, Rabi Abubakar, for allegedly pouring boiling water on her pregnant co-wife during an altercation in Daba Village, Bauchi Local Government Area. The incident, which reportedly occurred on July 17, saw the victim subsequently rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi. The police said that while receiving treatment and despite sustaining severe burns, the victim gave birth to a baby boy on July 19.
