Ondo begins waterways sanitation to prevent flooding
To reduce the possibility of flooding, the Ondo State government has started a massive campaign to clear clogged waterways in Akure and throughout the 18 local government districts of the state. Professor Joseph Utsev, the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, recently issued a warning in which he named Ondo as one of the states at high risk of catastrophic flooding this year.During an inspection on Friday, Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Donald Fasua, said the effort aims to keep the state flood-free throughout the rainy season. He confirmed that two excavators have been deployed to flood-prone areas of Akure to clear clogged channels.
