A total of 386 suspects who were tried for terrorism related offences were convicted during a four-day special court sitting of the Federal High Court in Abuja. Our correspondent in Abuja understands that they were among the 598 defendants brought before the court by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation.Speaking at the conclusion of the sitting yesterday, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) expressed delight about the outcome of the exercise.He said: “In total, we brought about 508 cases. Violence rocked parts of Oyo State on Saturday amid local government congresses held by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.The violence erupted between the faction loyal to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike and the faction loyal to the incumbent governor of Oyo State, His Exellency Seyi Makinde.Ayemafuge learnt that the Wike-led faction organised its local government congresses on Saturday.The congresses however turned violent, leading to attacks on several persons resulting in about 25 people been reported injured.Properties, including houses and vehicles, have been vandalised in some of the local government areas of the state.
