Gov Aiyedatiwa to pay more attention on tourism in Ondo

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo state has restated his administration’s determination to promote tourism as a socio-economic development lever. The governor made the statement on Thursday at the 9th annual general meeting and conference of the Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP), held at the International Culture and Events Centre (The Dome) in Akure, the Ondo state capital. Represented by his deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, the governor acknowledged the immense contribution of tourism to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of any nation. Ondo govt appoints warrant chiefs, commences selection of new monarch, Olu-Oke

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties, Comrade Bola Taiwo, gave the hint during a press conference after the State Executive Council meeting in Akure that A new Olu-Oke of Okeigbo in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo local government area of Ondo state may emerge soon as the state government has appointed warrant chiefs to begin the process of selection. Ondo govt approves death penalty for kidnappers

Ondo State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring peace, infrastructure development, and grassroots governance across all parts of the state. This assurance was given during a press briefing held after the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa in Akure. Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, while addressing the media, said the Council discussed key security concerns and resolved to begin the process of repealing certain laws relating to kidnapping in the state. Ondo govt begins fight against cocoa beans adulteration

The government of Ondo State has begun a crackdown on the adulteration of cocoa beans in the state following the seizure in the Ireje community in the Ondo East Local Government Area of the state. Permanent Secretary in the state ministry of agriculture and forestry, Segun Odusanya, disclosed this on Saturday in an interview with journalists after the arrest of a female suspect, alleged of supplying adulterants. Ondo judiciary staff begins indefinite strike, courts shut

The Ondo State Chapter of  The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria on Friday morning, begins an indefinite strike, effectively grounding judicial activities across the state. Judges, lawyers, and litigants were denied access to court premises, bringing legal proceedings to a standstill. According to reports, entrances to both the Akure Division of the State High Court and the Magistrates’ Court were firmly locked, stopping all operations within and around the complexes. Governor Aiyedatiwa nominates 12 commissioners, submits names to the Assembly

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has nominated 12 commissioners to serve in the state executive council. In a Thursday statement, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan disclosed that the names of the nominees have been forwarded to the state House of Assembly for confirmation. The nomination was conveyed in a letter addressed to Speaker of the House, Hon. Olamide Oladiji on Thursday. The commissioner-nominees are Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, Engr Aycrinde Abiola Olawoye, Hon. Ayodele Akande, Engr Alabi Johnson, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, Otunba Adewale Akinlosotu and Mr. Idowu Ajanaku. Navy commissions 30,000 liter solar-powered borehole in Ondo community

The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) Igbokoda has established a 30,000-liter solar-powered borehole at its Officers' Mess complex in Ondo State in an effort to improve civil-military ties. The water project is a kind contribution from the ADURO Foundation and is a component of the festivities honoring the Nigerian Navy's 69th Anniversary, which is now being held under the direction of the Western Naval Command in Lagos.
