There was a gas explosion in Edibe Edibe area of Calabar, Cross River State on Saturday last week resulting from a gas leakage from a gas plant in the area which has led to the death of some people while over 60 victims were seriously burnt. Ayemafuge learnt that when the incident occurred, attempts were made to rescue the victims involved, yet some died as a result of serious gas burn while others were rushed to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital for survival. An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has granted an interlocutory injunction restraining Mrs Oluwakemi Alao-Akala and other family members who are parties in the ongoing dispute over the estate of the late former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, from selling, disposing of or entering into any form of transaction on the contested properties pending the determination of the substantive suit.The order followed an application filed by the first daughter of the late governor, Oluwatoyin Alao Aderinto, who approached the court as claimant/applicant in Suit No. I/443/2024, seeking judicial intervention over the administration of the estate of the deceased politician.Joined as defendants/respondents in the suit are Oluwakemi Alao-Akala and Olamide Alabi, listed in the court processes as executors and administrators of the estate of the late former governor.Ruling on the motion on notice for an interlocutory […]

The House of Representatives on Thursday mandated its relevant committees to investigate the territorial status of Eba Island, a geographical area currently being contested by Ogun State and Ondo State. Violence rocked parts of Oyo State on Saturday amid local government congresses held by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.The violence erupted between the faction loyal to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike and the faction loyal to the incumbent governor of Oyo State, His Exellency Seyi Makinde.Ayemafuge learnt that the Wike-led faction organised its local government congresses on Saturday.The congresses however turned violent, leading to attacks on several persons resulting in about 25 people been reported injured.Properties, including houses and vehicles, have been vandalised in some of the local government areas of the state. The Police have arrested a suspected member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), identified as Eniba, over alleged violent attack on some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State during a stakeholders’ meeting in Akure.Those attacked by the suspected political thugs include a former State Chairman of APC, Engr. The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has removed the Force Public Relations Officer(FPRO), ACP Benjamin Hundeyin.This is coming just six months after he assumed office.Ayemafuge gathered information that the approval for Hundeyin’s removal was granted on Thursday, March 5, 2026, by the new Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.The circumstances surrounding the decision remain unclear.
