The Police has arrested the Commissioner for Secondary Education in Delta State, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu, and three others over the death of Mr Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda, a Deputy Director in the state Ministry of Secondary Education.
This brings to five the number of suspects currently in police custody in connection with the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Adeda.
The spokesperson for the Police Command in the state, SP Bright Edafe made the disclodure in a statement on Monday in Asaba.
The command also declared a manhunt for the Director of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs Clemetine Ufuoma, and Clement Apia, the driver attached to the Commissioner for Secondary Education.
The police said the presence of the two suspects was required to advance the investigation.
The command urged Ufuoma and Apia to make themselves available to the police without further delay.
The police promised to conduct thorough, impartially, and professionally investigation, assuring the deceased’s family and members of the public that they would follow due process.
According to the command, anyone found culpable in the death of Ekpevbughe will be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
The latest development comes amid growing concerns over the circumstances surrounding the death of the Deputy Director, who reportedly died following an incident at his workplace.
The police command had earlier commenced investigation into the incident, which has attracted public attention and calls for the circumstances surrounding the official’s death to be established.
The command appealed for cooperation as investigators intensify efforts to unravel what transpired.

A man identified as Seyi has been killed by suspected cultists who allegedly mistook him for a member of a rival group at Ijako Market, Owode-Ijako, Ogun State. NECO releases 2026 SSCE results, 58.67% pass English, Mathematics
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) with 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67 per cent, obtaining five credits in English language and Mathematics. Dantani Wushishi, NECO registrar, announced the results in Minna, Niger state, on Thursday. Wushishi said 1,378,048 candidates registered for the examination, while 1,371,992 candidates sat for the exercise, which commenced on June 15 and ended on July 23, 2026. He disclosed that 1,162,118 candidates, representing 84.70 per cent, obtained five credits and above irrespective of their performance in english language and mathematics. The 2026 result records 2.64 percent drop in pass rate when compared with the 818,492 candidates representing 60.26 percent that obtained five credits and above, including english and mathematics in the 2025 examination.
