- Extends PVC Collection The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reaffirmed its readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible and peaceful Osun State Governorship Election on August 15, 2026, assuring stakeholders that all critical preparations have been concluded. Speaking at the Osun State Governorship Election Stakeholders' Forum in Osogbo, the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, said the Commission had completed its logistical, technological and operational arrangements and was fully prepared to deliver an election that reflects the will of the people. Appeal Court sets aside judgment nullifying INEC guidelines on 2027 elections

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has validated the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) on the conduct of the 2027 general election. In a unanimous judgment on Thursday, the court set aside the judgment of May 20 of the Federal High Court in suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/517/2026, which nullified parts of the INEC’s electoral guidelines. In the lead judgment delivered by Justice Adebukola Banjoko, the Court of Appeal held that the Youth Party YP which instituted the case against INEC lacked legal power, (locus standi) to do what it did. 2027 Election: INEC extends deadline for submission of candidates’ list by political parties

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the submission of lists of candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly Elections, by political parties. The INEC decision is contained in a statement issued on Sunday by its National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna. According to INEC, the deadline for submission in the Revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Elections being Saturday, July 11, 2026 has been extended to midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dayo Faduyile, as the winner of the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election.
