Article arrow_drop_down

It’s no longer a news that the Lagos – Calabar coastal road construction is ongoing.

The news here now is that, as at the fourth of this month of February 2026, the construction work on the road has gotten to Irokun community in Ogun waterside local government council area of Ogun state, heading to Igbo-edu and onwards to Eba Island, all in Ogun state.

The Onirokun of Irokun kingdom, Oba Buari Ola Balogun, Ogbelege IV also visited the site the same day and he was interviewed by Mr. Atilade, the PRO.

Oba Buari Ola Balogun with his entourage in his response was highly elated and warmly enthusiastic when he saw how all the road construction equipment put in place for the work by the contractor, HITECH construction company were working tremendously.

It should be known that section they are working on now is known as section 4A of the road which cuts across Ode-Omi in Ogun waterside local government of Ogun state through to part of a village called Igogun. All this stretch falls in Ogun state territory.

Ayemafuge visited the construction site live on fourth of this month and interacted with the leading Public Relations Officer, Mr. Atilade who has a very deep experience in public relations job.

Mr. Atilade explained to Ayemafuge correspondents that as we can see, the work is moving at a geometric progression which Ayemafuge confirmed the pace at which the work is moving.

Responding to questions from our correspondents, Mr. Atilade explained that what they are doing now is the clearing of the bush along the road alignment that after this the sand filling aspect will start before putting the stone base and so on.

Mr. Atilade reacted to another question from Ayemafuge on the social responsibilities of the construction company to the community, talking about employment of the community youths and things like that.

He said that as they are progressing, the company is employing two youths from each of the affected communities and more youths will be employed when the operation gets to mixing of the concrete, laying of the iron rods etcetera.

On the question of the likely time the road will be ready for commission, the PRO said that he could not ascertain the exact time but what he could assure the people along the section 4A and section 4B and the Nigerian populace is that the road construction will be concluded and that nothing will stop it but it needs the continuity of the governance of President Bola Amed Tinubu as the Lagos – Calabar coastal road is his brain child.

Oba Buari Ola Balogun, the Onirokun of Irokun kingdom and the community elders prayed for the company, the workers and Mr. Atilade, the
PRO in traditional way.

However, his initial team selection remained perplexing. Chelle opted for a highly offensive formation in Kigali, which appeared unbalanced on paper. Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman, and Moses Simon were all included in the attacking lineup, while Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi occupied the midfield positions. "I had mixed feelings. […]
