Lagos – Calabar Coastal Highway Ogun/Ondo Section commences soon.

In a scoping workshop on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) organized by Natural Eco Capital Limited yesterday, it was made clear that the Lagos/Calabar coastal road along Ogun and Ondo states will start very soon.
The workshop which was well attended by over 15 kings, 25 baales and other chiefs and community leaders cut across both Ogun and Ondo states included HRM Oba Buari Ola Balogun, Ogbelege IV, the Onirokun of Irokun kingdom who was ably represented by Chief Iyamore Arthur, the Asiwaju of Igbo-edu land, HIM Oba Oluwasegun Akinyomi, the Amapetu of Mahin kingdom, ably represented by the oloja of oke Ipare in Ondo state, HRM Oba Folailu Hassan, the Nenuwa of Ode-Omi and many more.

The organizers of the workshop on behalf of the federal ministry of works, explained to the invited participants of the workshop that work is going on in sections one and two of the coastal road which stretches from Lagos to Dangote refinery. Dr Emmanuel who handled the presentation of the workshop said work will soon commence in sections 4a and 4b which stretches from Ogun waterside local government area of Ogun state through Ilaje local government area of Ondo state.

He went further to make more clarification on whic areas are sections 4a and 4b of the coastal road.

Dr. Emmanuel said the section 4a covers the Ogun state part from Ode-Omi down to Irokun kingdom while the section 4b stretches along Ilaje communities and Ese do.

In his further statements, Dr. Emmanuel told the participants that the workshop was very necessary to alay the fears of the people of the communities affected. He said every affected community will be adequately taken care of by the federal government in that:
Those who have economic crops, fishing lines, farm lands shrines etc along the alignment of the road will be adequately compensated by the federal government.

In conclusion, Dr. Emmanuel on behalf of the Federal government solicited for the cooperation of the affected communities and their youths to accommodate both the construction company, Hitech and the workers by the time work commences along the stretch.

Many questions were raised by the participants but the organizers of the workshop said as the work starts and progresses there will be answers to those questions.

Nine killed in Benue community attack

At least nine people lost their lives and several others sustained injuries following an attack by armed bandits on Sunday in Edikwu-Ankpali, Apa Local Government Area of Benue State. Terrorism: Court convicts 386 in four-day mass trial in Abuja court

A total of 386 suspects who were tried for terrorism related offences were convicted during a four-day special court sitting of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
