A technical team from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has visited the oil well at Eba, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area, as preparations intensify for the commencement of commercial drilling operations in the state.The visit forms part of the federal government’s efforts to mobilise the technical expertise and infrastructure required for drilling, following the approval for commercial operations by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Officials of NNPCL worked alongside the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and national security agencies to assess the site and confirm its suitability for production.The technical delegation was led by Hussein Aliyu, Project Coordinator for Enserv, who headed the entire NNPCL Enserv technical team. The news here now is that, as at the fourth of this month of February 2026, the construction work on the road has gotten to Irokun community in Ogun waterside local government council area of Ogun state, heading to Igbo-edu and onwards to Eba Island, all in Ogun state. Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has appointed new service chiefs in a sweeping overhaul of the country's military leadership, the presidency said on Friday, as part of efforts to strengthen national security.The reshuffle comes amid persistent security challenges across Nigeria, including Islamist insurgencies in the northeast, armed banditry in the northwest, and separatist unrest in the southeast.General Olufemi Oluyede was named Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa, who was appointed just over two years ago after Tinubu came into office.Major-General W. Shaibu was appointed Chief of Army Staff, while Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke and Rear Admiral I. Abbas were named Chiefs of Air and Naval Staff, respectively.Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retained his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence."All appointments take immediate effect," the presidency said in a statement.
