 Davido extends a public apology to the commissioner of police in Osun State.

Davido has publicly apologized and retracted his previous remarks regarding the Commissioner of Police for Osun State. The Afrobeats artist initially criticized the commissioner for not upholding the rule of law during a period of unrest that led to several casualties. However, he has since recognized the commendable efforts made by security agencies in addressing the crisis.

Davido Backtracks Harsh Comments, Threats Made Against Osun State CP,

In a recent statement posted on X, Davido expressed that, after careful consideration, he now acknowledges the commissioner’s “genuine efforts” in managing the situation. He clarified that his earlier comments were driven by his emotional response to the tragic loss of life in the state.

Understanding the complexities involved, the singer admitted that security officials, including the police commissioner, had been working tirelessly behind the scenes.

“In memory of the innocent lives lost, emotions ran high among me and my friends. We were unaware that the Commissioner of Police had been working sleepless nights alongside other commanders. At the time, I did not fully appreciate his contributions. This was a serious oversight, and I now wish to acknowledge and commend his dedication to upholding the rule of law and maintaining peace in Osun State,” Davido stated.

He commended the commissioner for their dedication and urged security agencies to enhance their efforts in preventing any further disturbances, especially with the local government elections approaching on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

“To honor those who have lost their lives or sustained injuries, I call upon the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to bolster their initiatives in maintaining peace. It is essential that the rule of law is upheld,” he stated.

Davido emphasized that achieving a peaceful electoral process is vital for both politicians and security personnel, including the Osun State Commissioner of Police. He concluded by wishing the commissioner and other security leaders success in their ongoing efforts to tackle the security issues facing the state.
