The Nigerian Army has announced plans to recruit 28,000 new personnel as part of efforts to strengthen its manpower and improve the country’s capacity to address security challenges.
The recruitment initiative is expected to significantly increase the Army’s operational strength as security agencies continue to confront threats such as terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and other forms of criminal activities across various parts of the country.
Military authorities disclosed that the expansion will be supported by increased training capacity at designated military institutions and training centers nationwide. The move is aimed at ensuring that newly recruited personnel receive adequate training and preparation before deployment.
According to Army officials, the decision forms part of broader reforms designed to enhance operational effectiveness, improve rapid response capabilities, and strengthen national security efforts.
The military leadership noted that the growing complexity of security threats requires additional personnel and improved training systems capable of producing highly skilled troops. The expanded recruitment drive is also expected to support ongoing military operations in areas affected by insurgency and violent crime.
Security experts have welcomed the development, describing it as a positive step toward improving manpower levels within the armed forces. They, however, emphasized the importance of sustained training, modern equipment, intelligence gathering, and inter-agency cooperation in achieving long-term security objectives.
The recruitment programme is expected to provide employment opportunities for thousands of eligible Nigerians while contributing to efforts aimed at protecting lives, property, and critical national assets.
Military authorities assured the public that the recruitment process would be conducted in accordance with established guidelines and standards, urging interested applicants to follow official announcements regarding eligibility requirements and application procedures.
