Group Calls for the Replacement of Ondo NDDC Commissioner Over Security Threat

A political group registered under the All Progressives Congress for media promotion of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his 2023 presidential campaign, the Asiwaju Media Team in Ondo State, has called for the replacement of Otito Atikase from the NDDC, citing security concerns regarding the NDDC commissioner.

In an open letter addressed to the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the group drew the attention of the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and gave an ultimatum to embark on a protest if Otito is not replaced quickly.

The letter read:

Your Excellency,
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,
The President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

ATTENTION
Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa
The Governor of Ondo State.

Sir,
URGENT REQUEST TO SAVE THE PEOPLE OF ONDO STATE, MOST ESPECIALLY ILAJE AND ESE-ODO FROM SECURITY THREATS AS WE REJECT OTITO ATIKASE.

We are under security threat.

1. Otito Atikase has once been in the State House of Assembly under the Labour Party-led administration of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko; he was replaced after about two years. It was like a secondary school security threat then.

2. Otito Atikase was once again appointed as a caretaker chairman of Ilaje Local Government under the late Governor Akeredolu; the administration couldn’t be prayed for anyone’s benefit, and he was replaced after about two years. It escalated to higher institution security threats.

3. The late Governor Akeredolu was on his sick bed when Otito Atikase was manipulated into the NDDC after it was resolved that Hon. Kolade Akinjo was not an APC member. Security threats now have reached a master’s degree level under the same influence.

As we cannot detail the whole episode in this open letter, it is pertinent for Your Excellency to take the matter of security seriously and place Otito Atikase under security watch after he has been replaced.

We write this to avoid a protest in Abuja and the entire Ilaje/Ese-Odo for his removal

Thanks for your understanding.

Efforts to reach the NDDC Commissioner for his reaction were aborted over the phone.

Rwanda vs Nigeria: Chelle reignites the Super Eagles’ aspirations for the 2026 World Cup in Kigali.

On Friday, Eric Chelle became the inaugural non-Nigerian African coach to take the helm of the Super Eagles. The Malian coach directed his first match, resulting in a 2-0 win against Rwanda during a qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup. Chelle's appointment by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) took place on January 7, as he replaced Finidi George and succeeded interim coach Augustine Eguavoen. Since that time, he has dedicated three months to traveling across Nigeria, observing domestic league matches, and engaging with his players based in Europe. However, his initial team selection remained perplexing. Chelle opted for a highly offensive formation in Kigali, which appeared unbalanced on paper. Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman, and Moses Simon were all included in the attacking lineup, while Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi occupied the midfield positions. "I had mixed feelings. […]
