The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has criticized the alleged profiling and intimidation of Northern women by operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, describing the development as unconstitutional and discriminatory.
In a statement issued by the Chairman of its Board of Trustees, Bashir Dalhatu, the forum expressed concern over a viral video showing a group of Northern women being questioned and allegedly threatened with deportation from Ondo State.
The ACF argued that every Nigerian citizen has the constitutional right to live, work, and move freely in any part of the country without discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, or place of origin. The forum maintained that no state security outfit or government agency has the legal authority to deport citizens from one part of the federation to another.

According to the group, the alleged actions of the security operatives could undermine national unity and create unnecessary ethnic tension if not properly addressed. The forum called on the Ondo State Government to investigate the incident and take appropriate action against any official found to have acted outside the law.
The controversy follows recent security operations by Amotekun, during which the agency reported intercepting several groups of people, including women and young persons, moving into forest communities in parts of Ondo State. Amotekun officials said the operations were part of efforts to address security concerns and monitor movements into areas affected by criminal activities.

The security outfit had earlier raised concerns over an influx of individuals into forest settlements across the state, stating that some of those intercepted claimed they were relocating from northern parts of the country. Amotekun said the development warranted investigation due to ongoing security challenges in some forest corridors.
ACF, however, insisted that security concerns should be addressed through lawful investigations and intelligence gathering rather than actions that could be perceived as ethnic profiling. The forum urged authorities to uphold the rights of all Nigerians while tackling criminal activities.
As of the time of filing this report, Ondo State authorities had not issued a detailed response to the ACF’s latest concerns regarding the alleged treatment of the women involved.

Rwanda vs Nigeria: Chelle reignites the Super Eagles’ aspirations for the 2026 World Cup in Kigali.
On Friday, Eric Chelle became the inaugural non-Nigerian African coach to take the helm of the Super Eagles. The Malian coach directed his first match, resulting in a 2-0 win against Rwanda during a qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup. Chelle's appointment by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) took place on January 7, as he replaced Finidi George and succeeded interim coach Augustine Eguavoen. Since that time, he has dedicated three months to traveling across Nigeria, observing domestic league matches, and engaging with his players based in Europe. However, his initial team selection remained perplexing. Chelle opted for a highly offensive formation in Kigali, which appeared unbalanced on paper. Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman, and Moses Simon were all included in the attacking lineup, while Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi occupied the midfield positions. "I had mixed feelings. […]
