The Ondo State Government has reassured the family of a traditional community leader who was abducted by suspected gunmen in Owo Local Government Area, promising that security agencies are working tirelessly to secure his safe release.
The victim, identified as Adeniyi Adelana, the Baale of Ode Oriya Village, was reportedly kidnapped when armed assailants invaded the community over the weekend. During the attack, his wife sustained a gunshot injury and was immediately taken to a medical facility, where she is receiving treatment and responding positively.
In a statement issued by the state government, authorities disclosed that police operatives, local security outfits, and intelligence teams have launched coordinated search and rescue operations across strategic locations in and around the area. The government assured residents that all available security resources have been deployed to track down the kidnappers and rescue the community leader unharmed.
The Ondo State Police Command also confirmed the incident, noting that tactical teams have been mobilized to comb nearby forests and suspected escape routes. Security personnel have intensified surveillance efforts while investigations continue.
Government officials urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing credible information that could aid ongoing operations. They reiterated the state’s commitment to protecting lives and property while strengthening measures against kidnapping and other violent crimes.
The abduction has generated concern among residents of the community, with many expressing hope that security agencies will secure the victim’s release as quickly as possible.
Authorities have assured the public that efforts remain ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safe return of the abducted community leader.
