Violence rocked parts of Oyo State on Saturday amid local government congresses held by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The violence erupted between the faction loyal to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike and the faction loyal to the incumbent governor of Oyo State, His Exellency Seyi Makinde.
Ayemafuge learnt that the Wike-led faction organised its local government congresses on Saturday.
The congresses however turned violent, leading to attacks on several persons resulting in about 25 people been reported injured.
Properties, including houses and vehicles, have been vandalised in some of the local government areas of the state.
Some of the local government areas where attacks have been reported are Ibadan North, Ido, Ibarapa Central, Akinyele and Ogbomoso North.
Our correspondent learnt that the residence of a former governor of the state, Barrister Hazim Gbolarumi located at Bodija in Ibadan North local government area has been attacked.
It was learnt that properties worth millions of naira were destroyed in the building while some valuable items were carted away by the hoodlums.
Chairman of Wike-led PDP faction in Oyo, Professor Abdulrahman Akinoso, confirmed the attacks to Ayemafuge Saturday afternoon.
Akinoso noted that thugs were moving round to unleash terror on the people.
Akinoso reported further when he said “more than 25 vehicles have been reported damaged. They are moving round the local governments, attacking individuals at home and buildings were damaged”.
Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, when contacted, confirmed the incident to Ayemafuge on Saturday.
He said that the police is on top of the matter.
“It is an internal affair of a political party. It did not happen at the congress. It is outside the congress venues.
“We received a report of the attack on the residence of a former governor of the state.
“The Oyo State commissioner of police (CP) has ordered for the arrest of the hoodlums and we are on top of the matter,” the police spokesman said.

Four corps members die in road accident
The police have confirmed the death of four serving members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in a road accident involving a military gun truck and a commercial Hummer bus on the Narehi axis of the Girei–Song road in Adamawa State.According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, the crash occurred at about 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday. He explained that the accident happened when the military vehicle, travelling from Gombi to Yola, collided head-on with the commercial bus conveying five passengers from Yola to Mubi. Tension in Ondo as Community Leader Is Abducted and Wife Shot During Raid
