Amotekun operatives attacked by hoodlums in Osun, several injured

Operatives of the Osun State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, were reportedly attacked and injured by hoodlums at their command post in Awo, Egbedore Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo, the spokesperson for the corps, Yusuf Idowu, said the incident occurred on Friday following a report of an unauthorised burial.
According to the statement, the Oniwoye of Iwoye had alerted the Amotekun office about the illegal interment of a corpse on land considered sacred by the community.
In response, four operatives were dispatched to investigate.
“Upon arrival at the site, the operatives discovered that the burial had already taken place,” Idowu said.
He further revealed that a notorious thug, Ismaila Aluko, who had been on the corps’ wanted list, appeared at the scene with a group of armed assailants and launched an attack on the officers.
The operatives retreated to the Awo command post to call for reinforcements.
However, the hoodlums regrouped and launched a second assault on the command base, during which they attempted to disarm the officers and inflicted serious injuries.
The injured personnel were immediately taken to a medical facility for treatment.
“This violent act represents a direct threat to the security and peace of our communities and will not be tolerated,” Idowu stated, adding that the corps is collaborating with other security agencies to track down and prosecute those responsible.
He reaffirmed Amotekun’s commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and maintaining peace in the state.
