The objectives are to evaluate the local construction methods based on cultural knowledge and indigenous expertise, determine sustainable local building materials that reflect the people’s culture and place, and assess the level of inclusion of the community members in Ilaje Bariga, Lagos, and Ilaje Ese-Odo, Ondo State waterfront communities. Phenomenological, qualitative, and desk-based methods were adopted to elicit relevant data.
